Do you offer online orders and delivery?


Yes we do! We offer online ordering via email for either pick-up or state-wide delivery. To find out more, please visit the Online Orders and Delivery page of our website.




Pick up or delivery?


We can have your order ready for pick up in one business day.

For orders under $50 we charge a 10% picking & packing fee, while orders $50 and over attract a flat $5 fee. You can pick your order up at any time during our opening hours:
Hobart store: 9am - 5pm Monday - Saturday
Launceston store: 9am - 6pm Monday - Friday, 9am - 3pm Saturday Presently we are doing deliveries via Shifter Cargo Bicycle Courier (Monday - Friday) and our Eumarrah van (Wednesday and Friday afternoons) to the greater Hobart area, and home delivery with our Eumarrah car to inner city Launceston area (Monday - Friday). The picking and delivery fee is $10. If you would like your order delivered on a different day we can certainly arrange this through a courier, however we are unable to include highly perishable items, such as dairy or tofu in this service. We also offer state wide delivery. For most orders this is covered by our $10 fee, however in some cases delivery company rates will apply.

You are also welcome to organise your own courier service.

Are your stores open?


Yes we are still open!

Due to COVID19 we have temporarily changed our Hobart store's open hours to 9am - 5pm, Monday - Saturday (closed Sunday and public holidays). This is to protect and support our hardworking staff, and also respect social distancing recommendations.
Launceston store: Monday - Friday 9am - 6pm, Saturday 9am - 3pm (closed Sunday and public holidays)




Do you serve food?


We are a natural and organic food store that sells shelf and fridge lines, fresh produce and offers bulk food shopping. Our deli serves takeaway only slices and sweet treats. Our deli in Hobart also offers take-away Summer Kitchen pies (not heated), fresh salads, dips and hot soup (seasonal only). Most options are gluten-free, vegan, dairy-free and refined sugar-free. Unfortunately we no longer serve food in a seated area - we offer take-away only.




How do I make a wholesale enquiry?


The Eumarrah Warehouse handles wholesale enquiries and sales, which are classified as:

- Businesses buying commercial quantities for re-sale, education or manufacturing (eg. shops, cafes, restaurants, schools, co-ops)
- Individuals buying very large quantities greater than the retail stores can supply

What are Eumarrah stores doing to prevent the spread of COVID-19?


Eumarrah is committed to assessing and adapting our approach daily for the safety of our team and our community to minimise the spread of COVID-19.

Our stores have implemented preventative measures to our shopping experience as requested by the Australian Government and World Health Organisation. These changes are to prevent and slow the spread of this virus. Please remember to practice the highest level of personal hygiene all the time, not just while shopping with us.

HYGIENE

Our team are practicing the highest standards of hand hygiene. All surfaces, fixtures and shopping baskets are continuously disinfected and our scoops are thoroughly washed frequently throughout the day. We ask that you bring only clean jars and containers to refill. It is a condition of entry to use the hand sanitiser provided when entering our stores, and cotton gloves are also available for your use. If you would prefer to wash your hands on entry, please ask a member of our staff.

SOCIAL DISTANCING
We have actioned social distancing between our team and customers. If the store reaches maximum capacity, we will ask you to wait outside until another customer leaves. We also ask that you respect the advised 1.5m distance between yourself and others while instore, especially while in queue.

SELF SERVICE SAFETY
The relationship between self-service and COVID-19 is an area that we have considered. The method of transmission of COVID-19 is through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. These droplets can be inhaled or they can land in your eyes or mouth. This is the main method of infection. Or the droplets can land on a surface. If it is a hard impervious surface (eg, a can of tomatoes, or a bottle of sauce) the virus can remain viable for 3 days under normal conditions. If it is an absorbent surface (eg, cardboard) it lasts only about 24 hours. Virus viable duration on different foods has not been tested, however it is likely to be short given that most foods are porous. In the self-serve environment we see three main possible vectors of transmission: > The first could be people with infected hands touching scoop handles or bin lids and then other customers touch the same lid and use the same scoop. This is why we have compulsory sanitiser use entering the store and regular cleaning of scoops and lids. There is also sanitiser in the bulk area of the store. We have gloves available at the store entrance if you choose, so that your fingers don't have to touch the things that others have touched. We wash the cotton gloves after every use, or you can request disposable gloves from a member of our staff. We consider the risks of touch contamination to be little different to touching door knobs and entering your PIN on an EFTPOS machine. > A second vector of transmission could be contamination of the food itself. However respiratory viruses reproduce along the respiratory tract which is a different pathway from the digestive tract that food follows when you swallow it. Medical experience indicates that infection via this route is very unlikely: Food Standards Australia advise that “There is no evidence that COVID-19 is transmitted through food”, while the European Food Safety Authority says “There is currently no evidence that food is a likely source or route of transmission of the virus. EFSA’s chief scientist, Marta Hugas, said: “Experiences from previous outbreaks of related coronaviruses, such as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV) and Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV), show that transmission through food consumption did not occur. > A third vector of transmission could be cross-contamination from staff touching customer containers, though this is not very different from touching ordinary pre-packaged grocery lines. This is why staff sanitise their hands and the scale between each customer transaction.

Anyone still concerned about food safety could either wait a couple of days before consuming food or they could heat it at 65C for 3 minutes to ensure there is no viable contamination. Alternatively we offer a contactless Online Order (via email) & Delivery service. ONLINE ORDERS & DELIVERY
We are offering online orders via email and statewide delivery. This helps those customers who are unwell, social isolating or prefer to not enter the store. Please refer to our Online Orders & Delivery page for more information.

During this time we would prefer you to pay cashless, if you can.

Where does the name Eumarrah come from?


Our name actually comes from Tasmanian Aboriginal leader Kanneherlargenner, who was the Aboriginal leader of the Stoney Creek people of the northern Midlands in the 1820s. Eumarrah stood up for the rights of his people, while he also had good relations with some settlers. His original name was Kanneherlargenner, 'Eumarrah' was a later nickname he was given after working for a farmer called Hugh Murray.
Before calling the business ‘Eumarrah’ we had good discussions with the Tasmanian Aboriginal community, who were very happy for this forgotten bit of Tasmanian history to be told. We would like to pay respect to the traditional and original owners of this land, the Tasmanian Aboriginal people — to pay respect to those that have passed before us and to acknowledge today’s Tasmanian Aboriginal people who are the custodians of this land.
